Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

@onyx geyser I'd roughly group it as follows:

  • Beginner: just starting out. You can introduce yourself and use a few verb tenses to create your own phrases.
  • Intermediate: you have the vocabulary to express yourself in different ways. You're starting to be able to speak/listen and take part in conversations both written and oral.
  • Advanced: you can talk about almost anything, correctly use most/all verb tenses, use idioms/slang and are fluent (or close to it) in conversation.

Reading is easier to learn, so it's normal to struggle most with speaking/listening. Time, as you mentioned, plays a factor here: there's no pressure with text whereas in a conversation the speaker has likely moved on before you've understood everything.
