Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

J'ai fait écouter sa sœur à Harry. = "I made Harry listen to his sister."
J'ai fait lui écouter à Harry. = "I made Harry listen to her."
J'ai le fait écouter sa sœur. = "I made him listen to his sister."
J'ai le fait lui écouter. = "I made him listen to her."

I see what you're doing but those are much too wordy to be natural / used

#

the more natural ways to say it would be

J'ai fait (en sorte) que Harry écoute sa sœur
J'ai fait (en sorte) que Harry l'écoute

The third one is close, but you need the indirect pronoun and to place it before the verb:

Je lui ai fait écouter sa sœur

And the fourth one… well, as far as pronouns go, this is a valid option:

Je la lui ai fait écouter

But again, hard to parse and not very natural. You'd probably also need to rephrase it:

J'ai fait (en sorte) qu'il l'écoute

#

this might be useful to you

Sometimes one pronoun just isn't enough. A sentence might need both a direct and indirect object, or a reflexive pronoun as well as an adverbial. When this happens, word order becomes an issue: how do you know which pronoun to place first? It's actually pretty easy, once you learn the rules. - Lawless French

Thank youuu. I'll check this out. Oh, and these natural constructions are much easier for me to conceptualise haha
