Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Hi! First of, welcome to the server, and your French journey
If you're looking to start learning the language, you'll need to go through basic grammar and vocabulary. Many paper and online guides can do the job, but here's my personal recommendation: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/learn-french/french-for-beginners/
You'll also need to use a dictionary for vocabulary, when you need to translate a word in either language, WordReference is a great one: https://www.wordreference.com/
Just start by going through the basics a bit, try to find things that you like. After you got the basics down, you'll slowly need to start incorporating media in your routine, this can be reading books, watching videos, playing video games, talking to people on socials, anything that get you going and have you interact with the language.
If you want to push vocabulary training specifically, you can also use flashcard apps like Anki, but that's not a necessity: https://apps.ankiweb.net/ (free on every platform except iOS, but even then you can use the website)
You can find more useful resources in #1279421820654850162 albeit the channel is quite unorganized
Remember that learning a language takes time. You won't reach fluency in a month or a year. Give youself short-term objectives, enjoy the journey!
Remember you're learning, and you won't get every bit of what you read and hear either, so get comfortable with not understand everything, and just keep moving!
We're here to support you throughout. There are many learners in the same situation as you, or that went through this exact path here, feel free to discuss, or ask question about anything troubling you!
