Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

although le point and la pointe probably come from the same origine, the difference in gender goes beyond them somehow being versions of one another, "le point" → the point as in a dot (so, like a decimal, for instance) and "la pointe" → the point as in the tip of something (potentially shartp)

rentrée and retour are just unrelated words that happen to be similar in meaning (but still have distinct uses!)

for jour vs. journée (and other time related words that have this sort of gender distinction) the words are used for different ways of conceiving the period of time

jour → day as the distinct unit
journée → day from the perspective fo the time passed

when it comes to greatings/ways of saying goodbye they get used distinctively
bonjour → good day (as in, something like I hope your day's going well)
bonne journée → good (rest of your) day (as in, have a nice day, have a good rest of your day)
