Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
When we have just an object in a causative structure, it is either the agent (initiating an action) or the recipient (receiving an action). They both come after the infinitive, context can help making the distinction.
This particular sentence follows the first option.
When there are both the agent and the recipient in a sentence, the agent, acting ad the subject of the infinitive, receives the preposition à/par and the recipient acts as the object.
She has her kid fetch the package => Elle fait chercher le colis à/par son enfant
So "elle fait manger le bébé à/par quelqu'un" paints a morbid picture.
You're better off using the verb nourrir for example instead of manger here.
