Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Grand is more like tall
You can't really translate big and tall directly from English, you have to think about what you're describing
A big tower = une grande tour
He's fat = il est gros
French more or less just has a different way of measuring things
"Grand" will often be closer to "tall", and fat will be "gros", but big/large in English can kind of go either way from a french viewpoint. If the height is the most important factor, it's probably "grand", otherwise probably "gros", but there are a lot of situations where it's just whatever feels right/is idiomatic to a native speaker
