Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Grand is more like tall

You can't really translate big and tall directly from English, you have to think about what you're describing
A big tower = une grande tour

He's fat = il est gros

French more or less just has a different way of measuring things
"Grand" will often be closer to "tall", and fat will be "gros", but big/large in English can kind of go either way from a french viewpoint. If the height is the most important factor, it's probably "grand", otherwise probably "gros", but there are a lot of situations where it's just whatever feels right/is idiomatic to a native speaker 02Shrug

Thank you both, @lime hollow and @rocky zodiac
Will keep this general rule in mind.

I love learning languages, getting confused and being guided by natives. 😋
