In French, you can emphasise words by repeating its stressed pronoun. For example, say I want to say this sentence : « Élise regarde un film (Élise is watching a film) ». If I want to emphasise the fact that it’s Élise and not anyone else who is watching a film, I’ll repeat the word in stressed pronoun form. « Élise » is a woman’s name and there’s only one person here so I can go, « Élise, elle regarde un film (Élise is watching a film) »
