Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
When in doubt, vouvoie! The worst thing that could happen is them saying “oh you can tutoie me”.
Which is infinitely less awkward than what might happen if you tutoie someone who expects to be vouvoied.
Well, in Quebec it can sometimes be a bit offensive/people can take offense to it if they feel you're doing it just because they're "old", but pretty case by case (and I don't think it would be an issue if they recognize you're not a native speaker, especially if you know each other + have been friendly)
It doesn't hurt to ask, I would assume tutoiement is fine but if you're unsure it's normal even for native speakers to ask if they're not entirely sure!
Sounds like a great idea
Depends how old you both are
