Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
-# je vais au travail* (no need for "le" as "au" already includes it)
those prepositions are part of the verb construction. Verbs have various constructions and can use a number of prepositions.
partir à
partir pour
aller à
aller pour
Specifically, "partir pour" puts emphasis on the direction, the travel, whereas "à" puts emphasis on the destination
while there are patterns, a lot of prepositions used in verb constructions are actually pretty random, and you'll for the most part learn them through experience
Thank you!
