Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
le/la/les have multiple purposes.
They can be articles, used to introduce a noun: les enfants sont là (the kids are here) / je regarde le ciel (I'm looking at the sky)
They can be object pronouns, used to replace a object: je le vois (I see him/it)
à/de + le/la/les needs to be contracted when le/la/les is an article
when it's an object pronoun though, it does never get contracted
j'ai oublié de le dire => le represents what you forgot to say, it's an object pronoun, no contraction
ils ont discuté du problème (not "de le problème") => le is an article introducing problème, contraction is needed
