Unless you're asked to write in the style of a novel or a historical account, no
the concept of passé simple is that it's a tense to narrate events contextualized in the past.
As real life is contextualized in the present, you don't have a use for it, and passé composé is used to describe events that happened prior to now.
In a passé simple narration, the concept of "present" doesn't even exist. The story is in its own time frame
