Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

No one's going to be able to give you a definitive answer because it varies wildly from person to person as a function of their natural language ability, languages known, motivation, concentration, memory, etc. etc.

Various estimates out there put the total number of guided (i.e. with a teacher) learning hours at around 600 total hours for B2 and 800 hours for C1. But that's an estimate that will vary based on the factors I listed above.

Typically it takes a couple years to get to B2 and 3 or 4 to get to C1 if you start from 0. But, again, it depends.

If you did 2 hours of intensive studying per day on your own, it probably wouldn't be enough to progress as much as you want (and keep in mind, that sort of commitment is very hard to keep). You'd also need to add in classes with a teacher, consuming written or spoken content in French in your free time, and interactions with speakers into the mix, and no one is going to be able to guarantee you'd get the level you hope for in the end.
