Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

I would say so yes, especially in more casual discussion. Using "savoir" with a noun isn't very common at all in everyday french

#

There are some contexts where it can come up, but in most cases "connaître" will be preferred

#

That being said, "savoir" is generally (formally) the verb for knowledge that you know by heart, that you have memorized, or that is a simple fact. "Connaître" generally being more of a familiarity with something

I am really surprised that a textbook for beginners about savoir vs connaître says "sait" is the correct answer here.
While there are exceptions, "savoir" shouldn't be followed by nouns

Formally it's considered the "more correct" verb with memorized knowledge, with nouns

#

I think that's fading even in formal stuff tho

that's why I said exceptions
because an overwhelming majority of the population wouldn't say that and would probably think it sounds weird

Yeah, it's the formal standard so I guess they're going for "academic" french, even if it's falling out of favour

#

From the oqlf

#

Since in this case it's "par cœur", the formal "standard" is savoir

#

Just know that realistically most natives will think it's just incorrect
