I imagine so,e terms could vary between regions as well, particularly between Europe and Quebec, but even within European countries where French is used there may be differences

En médecine, la résidence est le stage post-doctoral que doivent suivre les médecins pour obtenir leur droit de pratique en Amérique du Nord. L’équivalent en France est appelé le Clinicat ou l'Assistanat, l'internat concernant la période de 3 à 6 ans avant la thèse.

Thank you, this is very helpful! Terms vary among English speaking countries as well, although there's a general move to the American terminology in recent years, so I'm not surprised it would differ among French speaking regions also.
