Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
for example, i had this issue where i looked up the meanine of pérénnité on word reference and got these three answers:
but i know that french also has the equivalents of durabilité, permanence, and longévité. so how do i find out the differences in connotations? any good websites?
I mean you can just look up the words on monolingual dictionnaries after using wordreference
they should give you more thorough definitions
cnrtl is one of, if not the best one
looks a bit old fashioned but it's part of the charm
the "proxémie" tab might be useful for you although I've never used it
