Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
une exposition de photos → a photo exhibition
une exposition des photos → an exhibition of the photos
(because "des" in this case would be the mandatory contraction of "de les" ("of the").
You're right to assume that there should be an indefinite article "des" in there. But when it follows the preposition "de", it disappears entirely.
There is an exhibition of the photos
==> Il y a une exposition de [les photos]
==> "de les" contracts into "des"
==> il y a une exposition des photos
There is an exhibition of photos (a photo exhibition):
==> Il y a une exposition de [des photos]
==> "de" eats "des"
==> il y a une exposition de photos
it's basically another combination of preposition and article, except it looks like the prepositon itself
