For starters, courir is an irregular -ir verb, so that’s why it doesn’t have that pattern

Read this article for irregular second group verbs, it’s really good. The one critique I have is that it includes -oir which technically isn’t -ir but I digress
What we're taught in schools is that verbs in -ir can be in -issons with nous (like finir) (they're in the "2nd group") or not and belong to the 3rd group (the dump group)
