because there's an implied compliment, i.e. what you don't have the least idea of, which in french it is necessary or more natural to refer to with a pronoun than in english

just like how in english it's totally fine to say "yes, i'm going" but in french one has to say "j'y vais"

or how in english you can say "I have three" but in french you must say "j'en ai trois"
