Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
pretty sure it refers to the English word, quant, which is a shortform of quantitative analysist
so this would mean "he didn't find a job in France and had to go to New York to work in quantitative analysis for (or in) a French bank"
however, "quant" is also a French word that's kind of hard to translate but I'd say it's like "as to/for"
this usage obviously doesn't use that definition, as shown by context and the word en before it
