If you want to say what's on your mind, you can also simply say "Je pense que ...".

"De plus" is what we call a connecteur logique d'addition, you establish a link between two parts of your sentence, and in this case you "add" something else. The others ones are "et", "puis", "en outre" and "Non seulement [...], mais [...] encore [...]".
