Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Yes
The simple present and present continuous in English are both expressed with the présent simple in French.

So you wouldn't say "je suis portant une chemise" or anything like that.

« Je porte une chemise jaune. »
"I'm wearing a yellow shirt."
or: "I wear a yellow shirt."

whats the meaning of the subjunctive

tight burrow

The subjunctive is a verb mood. It can convey emotions, doubt, hope, and more. A lot of expressions ending in "que" trigger it, but not all. This means you'll have to memorize which expressions need the subjunctive.

"Je veux que tu sois mon ami."
"I want you to be my friend".

In this sentence, "être" is in the subjunctive because "vouloir que" requires it. It might seem like a lot but don't worry. It's very common so you'll get a feel for it as you listen to French.
