Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Certain verbs in French require à, you kinda just need to know which ones do. Here is a list with verbs requiring à and their translation: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/verbs-with-a/
Some of those in your example need à to indicate to whom the action is done (for example: demander qqch à qqn = to ask sth to someone, demander à qqn = to ask (to) someone)
