Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

To talk about a conversation you HAD, you'll use the past (passé composé) for she said , then translate the speech.
Elle a dit "bonjour Marie!"

In a book? Horribly

It looks kinda like
— Bonjour Marie! a-t-elle dit. Je vais au supermarché, est-ce que tu veux venir avec moi?

If you place she said before the speech, you write the pronoun before the verb, as I wrote it "Elle a dit".
But if you write the text "Bonjour Marie!" first, you have to switch the verb and the pronoun after. So as @autumn vortex said, "a-t-elle dit"
