Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
« un pantalon, un short »
Trousers and shorts are singular in French but plural in English.
In Quebec it's more common to say "des pantalons" or "une paire de pantalons" instead of "un pantalon". The OQLF has this list of words that can similarly use either the singular or the plural to designate one object (not sure if it's just in Quebec though): https://vitrinelinguistique.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/23761/la-grammaire/le-nom/pluriel-des-noms/pluriel-et-sens-du-nom/noms-pouvant-etre-employes-au-singulier-et-au-pluriel
