Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"elle y est allée"
she went there
"est allée" is a past tense conjugation of "aller" (to go). It translates to "went" in my sentence. Because "allée" is feminine singular, it means the subject has to be feminine singular as well, which is why I used "elle" as subject (she). With "aller", unlike "go" in English, you have to indicate where someone is going. "y" is an object pronoun serving as a placeholder for any location you previously mentionned ("there" in my sentence)
