Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Hmmm there's not just one rule that you can apply to any verb
It simply depends on the verb unfortunately.
so I'll have to learn those nouns by heart right?
Yes and no
Most of the time the endings are pretty common, so it's more a question of which one of a finite number of endings a verb uses (or doesn't use, sometime the noun and the verb have the same form)
most -er verbs usually just remove the -er and put eur/euse like
jouer --> joueur/joueuse
manger --> mangeur/mangeuse
I see -ant often for verbs that end with -re
perdre --> perdant/perdante
débuter --> débutant/débutante
but yeah some are random like
enseigner --> enseignant instead of enseigneur
btw they are adjectives not nouns
