Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

I did a worksheet for it but it’s just not clicking ig

there's nothing to memorize, you just have to identify the direct and indirect objects of each sentence

#

for example in english "I ate a hamburger"

#

the thing doing the eating is me, so i'm the subject. the thing being eaten is the hamburger so that's the direct object

#

just like in english the usual word order of a sentence goes S(ubject) V(erb) O(bject)

So like for the first one would the candles be the object and Elle be subject?

exactly

Ohh ok ty makes more sense

thick lagoon
#

and indirect objects aren't being acted on by the verb per se but usually have a preposition in between "I gave the cat to him" (although of course in english we would also say "I gave him the cat")

#

in any case, cat is the direct object and him is the indirect object
