Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"Pour mériter d'être appelé édifice, un bâtiment doit être important. Un temple petit mais élégant peut être un édifice, tout comme un gratte-ciel imposant."
So, "un bâtiment" is pretty the same as "un édifice" but you will use the second one to talk about an important or an imposing building ( as for example, a temple or a church if it's religious or la Tour Eiffel et le Château de Versailles in France )
"Un bureau" can be the room on which people work, or a subdivision of an executive department of a government ( its literal meaning is "a desk" but you don't ask about it I guess ) ^^
