Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"partir" means "to leave for good" or "to leave with no intention of returning in the short term"
while "sortir" means "to go out", "to exit", or "to leave for a short while"
Let's say I'm at a party and can't find my friend, so I text them "t'es où ?"
If they answer "je suis sorti", I assume they went out for a smoke break or something and they're going to come back soon.
If they answer "je suis parti", I assume they left the party and went home.
Best explanation.... Merci
