Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"côtelette" is a rib that has been cooked as a dish.
"côte" is just a rib.
So you can refer to ribs (as in the dish) as both côtes or côtelettes, but you cannot refer to the bone itself as "une côtelette" when it's still inside the animal's body.
