Hey, so what preposition comes actually depends on the verb preceding it, not succeeding it. Unfortunately there's no rule, you have to learn by memorisation. Examples :
« décider » takes de

Je décide de l'aider.
« hésiter » takes à
J'hésite de l'aider.
« lutter » takes pour
Je lutte pour l'aider.
« espérer » takes nothing
J'espère l'aider.
