à, en, dans??

bonjour! Im having trouble figuring out when exactly to use à, en and dans. If I recall, is dans for places you are physically in? I`m not too sure about à and en though (I just use them when it sounds right).

For example, would I say "vous habitez dans le quartier GreenTown." or would it be "en" in the example above?

Or for something like "Je suis coincée dans(?) le métro."

furthermore, would you need to use any of the three in a case like: "les étudiants travaillent tard ___ le soir."

"les étudiants travaillent tard le soir"
no need for a preposition. "le soir" is a time, not a place.
