Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
in french unlike in english you have to specify what you’re telling, in this case “le”
“Don’t tell it to him” could be a possible translation, but it doesn’t sound very natural compared to “don’t tell him”
Some verbs in French and English vary in transitivity between each other (basically whether it takes an object or not). The verb "tell" in english can be intransitive or transitive but in French as far as I know must be transitive meaning it must have an object even if its unspecified
