Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
i dont know if that qualifies for this channel 🤔 but ill answer regardless
i think its subjective, when i learned dutch, i watched tv shows in dutch with dutch subs
it helped me "map the words to the speech" if that makes sense
so even if you get nothing you can associate visuals with words, and those words to speech
hope that helps
if you're a real beginner, having french subtitles may ruin you experience of the show
stopping the episode on each sentence, to try to understand it is boring
so it depends on your level i guess
im trying to say that even if you dont understand it as a true beginner, there are still take aways from french subs
speaking from experience, I don't recommend it
your mind will tune out the French and only focus on the English subtitles. you won't retain any words if you don't engage with them
also remember to tolerate ambiguity. you don't have to constantly pause to look up every word as long as you get the gist
