Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Use y to replace a previously mentioned place or idea (usually introduced by "à") and "là" to refer to a specific, physical place or moment in time.
"Y" = "there", it’s an abstract or implied location. for example "J'y vais" = I’m going there.
"Là" = "there", it’s a specific place. Il est là = He is there
When I say that Y is abstract I mean it can replace phrases that involve "à" when referring to things or ideas, it’s not always a physical location. Je pense à mon travail = J'y pense*
