Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
That « de » is the partitive article and yes it's obligatory. Common nouns in French are accompanied by an article where they're not in English.
'I'd like tea.'
« Je voudrais du thé (some tea). »
The partitive is generally made from the preposition « de » plus the definite article « le/la/les », giving us « du/de la/des ». In this case, « du/de la/des » becomes « de » when followed by an adjective.
« J'ai des bagues (I have [some] rings) »
« J'ai de belles bagues (I have [some] beautiful rings) »
« J'ai des bagues intéressantes (I have [some] interesting rings »
Bertie Bear le GOAT, j'allais demander pourquoi on utilise « de » dans ce cas quand je lisais cette question mais tu l'as déjà expliqué
appreciate it very much brother man
