Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

"Tu es de quelle nationalité ?" literally means "You are of which nationality?" like you said so great job thumbsup
French questions starting with "quelle" (like "Quelle est ta nationalité?") are more common in formal contexts or written language, you can still use them in informal situations for example "quelle sont tes origines?" but it’s more formal than starting with tu es. The structure "Tu es de quelle nationalité?" is more conversational and natural in spoken French, it emphases the inquiry about "you" and then specifying "which nationality". In your example, using "tu es" at the beginning keeps the sentence flow more conversational. Both forms are correct but one is more formal than the other
