Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
They both mean 'word' but where « un mot » refers to an actual word as in a syntactic thing, « une* parole » refers to the idea of speaking as an abstraction
Compare these two examples:
(1) « meutre » est le meilleur mot pour décrire cet évènement ['murder' is the best word to describe this event]
(2) C'est vrai, tu as ma parole [It's true, you have my word]
In the first example, « mot » refers to a real part of language whereas « parole » refers to the idea of speaking, the idea of keeping one's trust, etc
