Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

We use "c'est" when you need to say "it is" or "this is" before a noun, pronoun, or adjective for example "C'est un livre". C’est is a contraction of "Ce" + "Est", it becomes C’ because the following word (est) starts with a vowel and ce/ça finishes with one. We use "est" when it's the verb "is" following a specific subject "Il est content"
long story short. c’est uses "est" too, it combines it with the demonstrative pronoun "ce". Est just means "is" in the 3rd person singular and it comes from the French word être which means "to be"
