Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
« Faire ses excuses » means ‘to apologise’; ‘making excuses’ would be « chercher/trouver ses excuses. For the other part, you can use other forms like « présenter ses excuses, s’excuser ».
