Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
For the first one, where did you read that? I looked up « il y a contraction » and found nothing; could be a typo.
For the second, items on a list (as in starting with a colon (:) and ending in a period/full-stop) can either retain or drop the definite article; it’s a stylistic choice. The colon and full-stop one is key because if it’s a list that is part of the sentence, the article is kept.
« À l’école, je faisais : (de la) natation et (de l’)exercice. »
« Je faisais de la natation et de l’exercice à l’école parce que, ses activités, elles m’intéressaient. »
Thanks, I got it, the first one I took from my textbook, and have put two clauses together in exercise 2
Yeah it's probably a typo
couldn't explain more but it does not sound wrong to me
