Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

There are two different words spelled "des"

  1. The plural indefinite article "des", which is the plural of "un/une"
  • Singular: Je vois une voiture (I see a car)
  • Plural: Je vois des voitures (I see cars)
The indefinite article "des" disappears when it's right after the preposition "de"
  • Singular: Je parle d'une voiture (I'm talking about a car)
  • Plural: Je parle de des voitures ==> Je parle de voitures (I'm talking about cars)
  1. The mandatory contraction of the preposition "de" and the definite article "les".
  • Singular: Je parle de la voiture (I'm talking about the car)
  • Plural: Je parle de les voitures ==> Je parle des voitures (I'm talking about the cars)
