Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
No one would think about silver unless the context was incredibly clear
I mean like
My dictionary gives me "devoir de l'argent à quelqu'un" to mean theyre indebted to that person
But can it also mean indebted as in not about money but about a favour that someone did
Which youd have to return someday
It's just about money
Maybe you could use it metaphorically? Never heard that though
Ahh wow
Ty thank you
I ought to get a more modern dictionary maybe
or it's just a mistake / they overlooked it
Or didnt include many details
Wordreference is generally good
But yeah it's like
"I owe them money"
I suppose in English too you could use this as a joke/metaphor for meaning you owe them in general, so it wouldn't surprise me that much if someone did it in french, but it's certainly not the base meaning
