Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

C'est pour les chiens ? is used when you think someone has no utility for said things, it's just ornament for them.

Basically they would give it to the dogs, at least that's how we would see things.
There is also ce n'est pas fait pour les chiens to tell them a thing has an use for people.
Just adding that it's often phrased as a sarcastic question:
"et le <x>, c'est pour les chiens ?"
Which expresses disbelief or frustration that something important is being ignored or treated as unimportant.
