Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

we say quand more than lorsque as the second is more formal and sounds stiff, but we do still sometimes say it

yeah, thats true and if we really want to say lorsque, as in emphasise a time when something happens, we just say « dès que »

use quand when you speak 🙂
