If you notice, the letter « a » in cursive doesn’t have anything written in the centre hollow space unlike the letter « o ». This comes from how the letters are written.

Notice that swish at the top of the letter O? That’s how you separate A and O in cursive.

Consequently, due to how the O is written, any letters starting from the bottom would start on top.
