Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Anyway… Conceptually, the definite article defines something that is specific whereas the indefinite defines something that is general. As an example, if we're talking about « la pomme (the apple) », the definite article here implies that we are talking about an apple that we both know; we're not talking about any kind of apple, but this one specific apple (just this red one). If we're talking about « une pomme (an apple) », the indefinite article here implies that we are talking about an apple that isn't known to us; we're not talking about this one specific apple, but an apple in general (it can be red, green, whatever).

I see so it depends on the context as well.
