Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
ce x = this x / that x. "ce" by itself is used when there is no need to distinguish between "this" and "that", it's a generic demonstrative.
ce x-ci = this x. It emphasizes that it's this x we're talking about and not that one.
ce x-là = that x. It emphasizes that it's that x we're talking about and not this one.
-ci and -là mean "here" and "there" respectively so it's like saying "this thing here" or "that thing there"
k thx
There are also fixed expressions that arbitrarily require -ci or -là
For example, "this (current) week" is "cette semaine" and "this (current) year" is "cette année"
But "this (current) month" is always "ce mois-ci"
Oh
