Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
why do you think they should use "de" ?
The easy answer is there's no "de" because it's not needed. But maybe you misunderstand the grammar in these phrases, that's why I'm asking.
I speak Portuguese. When we say that we are close to finishing something, we use the 'de' preposition, which has the same meaning in French. Because of that, I thought it would be appropriate to use it in the phrase.
even though it has the same meaning, it's not how it would be used in French
languages are different
for example, you wouldn't say "I had almost of finished my mission"
because that's not how you'd use the preposition "of" in English
the same applies to French here
Thanks !
