Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

no no, it's completely fine
it's no more repetitious than saying "we went to the coffeeshop and had coffee"
it just so happens that "café" has both meanings: coffeeshop and coffee
chances are a native of either language wouldn't say it that way because it's just unnecessary

it's perfectly fine
it's just that, like I said, most natives would probably leave out superfluous details
but, like, if it's important to mention what you had there, then you'd have to say it that way!
You can specify what type of coffee you drank so the info doesn't seem redundant.
it's just that in real life, I don't think I've ever said to someone "I went to starbucks and had coffee" or something like that
